Kevin J. Keating,

has been
practicing law
for more than 26 years. He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney's Office. During his tenure, he handled all phases of criminal prosecution, and as a member of the trial bureau, tried over 50 cases to verdict.
In 1993, he brought his litigation experience to the criminal defense bar and founded the Law Offices of Kevin J. Keating. His extensive criminal practice consists of representing individuals and corporations in all phases of criminal litigation in Federal and State court - from local State court matters to complex Federal investigations. His clientele have included stock brokers; mortgage brokers; attorneys; doctors; banking establishments, and various corporate entities
Mr. Keating has tried numerous notable cases garnering media attention. His experience and qualifications led to his appointment by the Federal Judiciary in the Eastern District of New York to the title of "Learned Counsel" in Federal capital prosecutions.
In 2009, Mr. Keating was the recipient of the prestigious "Practitioner of the Year" award by the Nassau County Criminal Court Bar Association. In addition, he has been the invited featured speaker at presentations before both the Nassau County and Suffolk County Bar Associations.
In 2012, Mr. Keating was appointed Special Prosecutor in Suffolk County, New York, to investigate allegations of misconduct by a public official. And, recently, he was appointed by the Federal Judiciary to the title of Mentor, to offer his expertise in training and guiding lawyers seeking to gain experience in defending Federal criminal matters.
Mr. Keating's experience before appellate courts is also extensive. He has the rare distinction of representing clients in oral argument before both the United States Supreme Court and the New York State Court of Appeals. He frequently appears before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and New York's Appellate Division.
Mr. Keating's litigation experience also includes representing plaintiffs in significant Federal and State personal injury matters. These matters have ranged from multi-state Federal wrongful death cases to State personal injury prosecutions. Over the last several years, he has represented a number of clients in obtaining seven figure judgments.
Mr. Keating has served as an Adjunct Professor of Constitutional Law and is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Long Island Federal Bar Council, the Nassau County Bar Association, and the Suffolk County Bar Association.
